General Questions

What makes JK9U different?
We focus on strengthening communication and relationship first, not just obedience commands. Our programs are designed to help you understand your dog, build trust, and maintain structure long after training ends.

Do you work with dogs experiencing behavioral issues?
Yes. We work with behaviors such as reactivity, anxiety, pulling, jumping, overexcitement, and more. However, we may require an evaluation for severe aggression toward humans.

What training tools do you use?
We use a balanced training approach that may include food rewards, slip leads, martingales, prong collars, and/or e-collars when appropriate. All tools are introduced with proper conditioning and owner education.

Board & Train Programs

How does the Board & Train program work?
Your dog stays with us for 4–8 weeks depending on the goals. During that time, we implement structured training, confidence building, and routines. At pickup, we coach you through everything your dog has learned.

How often will I receive updates?
We provide progress updates throughout the program so you understand what your dog is learning and how to continue the training at home.

Can I visit my dog during the program?
We do not allow visits during board and train, as it can interrupt the training process. Your dog is working daily on structure, clarity, and engagement — minimizing disruptions helps them progress smoothly. There are 2 - 3 Owner Sessions towards the end of the program to help ensure a smooth transition before graduating.

What do I need to bring for drop-off?

  • Food

  • Any medications and preventatives with instructions

We provide clean and sanitized bowls, bedding and crating daily.

One-On-One Training

Where do one-on-one sessions take place?
Depending on your training goals, sessions may take place at your home, in public environments, or at a neutral training space.

How many sessions will I need?
This varies by dog and owner consistency. Many clients begin with bi-weekly sessions and adjust based on progress.

Virtual Coaching Sessions

What can be accomplished through virtual training?
Virtual sessions are designed to support owners in handling, communication, routines, and problem-solving. These are especially useful for new dog owners, puppies, or dogs working through foundational behavior patterns.

Do I need special equipment for virtual sessions?
Just a reliable internet connection and a space to work with your dog. We’ll guide you through any equipment recommendations as needed.

Judgment Free Pack Walks

Can any dog join the Pack Walks?
Yes — Pack Walks welcome all dogs, including those that are nervous, reactive, or working on neutrality. There is no pressure to be perfect here.

Can dogs greet each other during the walk?
No. To maintain safety and calm mindset, dogs do not greet or interact. The focus is on walking together in a structured, confidence-building environment.
