JK9U Policies
JK9U Policies & Client Agreement
At JK9U, our mission is to help owners build strong, sustainable relationships with their dogs through clarity, communication, and consistency. To maintain a safe and professional environment for all dogs and families we work with, the following policies apply to all services. By booking or participating in JK9U training, you acknowledge and agree to the terms below.
1. Training Philosophy & Owner Responsibility
We focus on developing well-rounded dogs through structure, engagement, and clear communication. Training is a shared effort — progress continues long after sessions or board-and-train programs end.
Owners agree to:
Follow training guidance during and after the program.
Maintain consistent structure and routines at home.
Practice handling skills and reinforce expectations daily.
Communicate honestly and ask questions when clarification is needed — we are here to help.
There are no guaranteed outcomes in behavioral training, as each dog is an individual. Your participation directly influences long-term success.
2. Participation Requirements
To ensure the safety and wellness of all dogs:
Dogs must be current on Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccinations.
Proof of vaccination is required before scheduling or drop-off.
Dogs must be free from fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites.
Dogs exhibiting severe aggression toward humans may require evaluation before acceptance.
3. Training Tools & Handling Approach
JK9U is a balanced training program. We use reward-based learning and structured communication tailored to the individual dog.
Training tools may include:
Food and play rewards
Slip leads or long lines
Martingale or prong collars
E-collars (introduced through proper conditioning and with owner consent)
Tools are selected based on each dog’s temperament, learning style, and training goals. By enrolling, you acknowledge and consent to the use of appropriate handling tools.
4. Health, Safety & Veterinary Care
If your dog becomes ill or injured during training:
We will make all reasonable efforts to contact you.
If urgent care is needed and you cannot be reached, we will seek veterinary treatment at the nearest clinic.
Owners are responsible for any veterinary costs associated with treatment.
JK9U is not liable for:
Pre-existing medical conditions
Injuries that occur from normal canine activity
Issues arising from circumstances outside our control
5. Board & Train Environment
Board-and-train programs are structured and personalized. Daily activities may include:
Structured walks and obedience practice
Confidence-building exercises and place work
Treadmill conditioning when appropriate
Controlled social exposure
Crate/rest periods for mental balance
We do not offer free group play. All interactions are trainer-guided and evaluated for safety.
Owners agree to attend:
The Go-Home Session at pickup
Any follow-up lessons included in the program
Failing to attend these sessions can limit results and may void continued support.
6. One-On-One Training Sessions
These sessions are hands-on and require full owner participation.
Owner Responsibilities:
Bring your dog on secure, non-retractable equipment.
Follow handling guidance during and after the session.
Practice daily between lessons.

Space to work with your dog (when applicable)
Willingness to practice the strategies provided
Cancellations:

8. Judgment Free Pack Walk Policy
Pack Walks are structured training experiences, not social play events. The goal is calm walking, confidence-building, and neutrality around dogs and people.
Safety & Participation Expectations:
No on-leash greetings — many dogs attending may be reactive or nervous.
Maintain 4–6 feet of space from other dogs at all times.
No retractable leashes. Standard leashes only.
Approved tools include slip leads, martingales, prong collars, and well-fitted harnesses.
Bring water for your dog, especially in warm weather.
Dress dogs appropriately for weather when needed.
Pick up after your dog and respect shared outdoor areas.
If your dog needs more space — take it. This is a judgment-free community built for growth.
9. Personal Belongings
Owners may provide:
Food labeled with instructions
Medications with written dosing
One comfort item (optional)
JK9U is not responsible for damage to toys, bedding, leashes, or other personal items.

Remaining balances are due at or before drop-off.

Cancellations within 72 hours of service start may incur additional fees.
12. Photo & Media Release
We document training for progress tracking, client education, and marketing.
By participating in training, you allow JK9U to use photos and videos of your dog for educational and promotional purposes.
To opt out, notify us in writing before training begins.
13. Liability Release
Owners understand that training and real-world exposure involve inherent risks.
By enrolling, the owner agrees to:
Assume responsibility for the dog’s behavior during and after training.
Hold JK9U harmless for injury, illness, damage, or behavioral outcomes, except in cases of proven negligence.
